NaPoWriMo 2017 Day Twenty Nine – Free Assoc-aition

…aaaaaand we’re winding down here at NaPoWriMo. Today’s prompt wants us to pick a concrete noun from a favorite poem and then free-associate for a few minutes to write a poem of our own around that noun.

I chose a favorite lullabye (YouTube link below), the noun “fire,” and the Rubliw style.

Three Faces of Fire

Fire
wildfire
rendering
all in its path
to skeletal ash
moving so fast
no time to
prepare
run

Fire
controlled
burn to clear
away choking
deadfall that prevents
sun and fresh air
allowing
upward
growth

Fire
beacon
lights the way
home through the dark
and dangerous woods
that can ensnare
bravest of
souls
